Soft-spoken and intelligent, Kevin, 17, seems to have a natural ability to suceed through his determination. His positive attitude and efforts and concern for others is evident in his relationships with his peers and the adult role models in his life. Kevin enjoys participating in "Open Mic Night" at the public library. In school, he takes part in poetry classes to improve his ability to express himself artistically through his increasing writing skills. He is a power on the basketball court and also like a variety of outdoor sports. In his life skills class, Kevin is learning the importance of becoming a responsible and dependable young man. He has acquired time management skills so he is never late for a meeting. Kevin is cooperative and helpful in his foster home. He keeps his room clean and takes pride in his appearance. His brother, Shaquille, is an energetic, playful 15-year-old with an outgoing personality. He aspires to being a disc jockey when he grows up. For now, he enjoys outdoor sports, especially football which he plays as often as he can. In school, he is on the Honor Roll several times a year and has received many award certificates for academic and behavioral accomplishments. Shaquille has the desire and motivation to achieve a bright future after he graduates from high school. He feel most comfortable in a family setting and wants very much to be adopted. Although the brothers are currently in separate foster care placements, they are very close. Ideally, the boys would be adopted by the same family so they could grow up together. However, if this is not possible, then separate homes would be considered as long as the boys remain in regular contact. They are eligible for financial subsidy.
