Faces Of Hope

     Affectionate, verbal and outgoing, Demetrius has a great sense of humor and enjoys being the center of attention.  With his expressive eyes and brilliant smile, the charismatic 14-year-old easily draws people to him and readily engages in conversation.  When involved in games and activities with his friends, he is always the leader.  Favorite activities include drawing, singing and riding his bike.  He likes to watch television shows that focus on families and teenagers.

     Passionate about gymnastics, Demetrius was thrilled to visit a gymnastics center recently.  He learned techniques and practiced moves on the mat, balance beams, rings, uneven bars and trampoline.  Afterwards, there was an award ceremony where Demetrius was declared the "Gold Medal Winner in the Men's All Around" and presented with a medal and certificate.  It was a day he will long remember.

     Enrolled in the eighth grade, Demetrius enthusiastically participates in class.  A bright student, he benefits from special education services and is proud when he does well.  He dreams of going to college.

     Demetrius has an extensive collection of stuffed dogs, which he started when he entered foster care.  He would like to have a dog some day.  Very helpful in his foster home, he is always willing to pitch in.

     Demetrius has experienced many separations and losses.  He longs to be placed in a permanent, stable adoptive home with patient, loving parents who will understand and be sensitive to his turbulent past.  He says he would like a family "that likes to have fun and do things together."  Preferably, it would be a two-parent family with no other children..  He is eligible for financial subsidy.
